The company beat analysts' estimates. Higher earnings ($8.72B) and higher earnings per share (0.74). Despite this, the stock dropped significantly. It wrote off over 4.5% after the market opened and ended the day with a loss of 9.17% or $-10.5.

The stock was already at significant resistance earlier which worked again. A large number of stocks traded in this zone and investors simply took profits. Now there is room for more weakness (not as big, but it is there) on $SBUX.
